Deacon Innovations of Porthcawl, Mid Glamorgan, who provide turn-key robot cells and small-scale manufacturing solutions to industry, contacted us as ESA Technology Brokers for the UK for some support to get them ready for the space sector.
This included workshops to investigate market analysis, collaboration with Catapults, funding guidance, networking opportunities, technology assessment, and the identification of potential end-users, both in the UK and internationally. Deacon Industries opted to take a flexible approach during the process so they could adapt their workshops based on real-world findings.
Our support for Deacon Industries allowed them to identify potential future markets within the space industry along with any relevant funding opportunities. This knowledge enabled Deacon Industries to create a business roadmap that aligns with both market trends and funding calls.
More specifically, TWI’s assistance as ESA Technology Broker for the UK highlighted a number of companies with whom Deacon Industries could partner, including Swansea University who have extensive experience in CubeSat manufacturing and are developing their own proposal with Deacon Innovations providing technical support. We also highlighted some potential commercial leads for CubeSat manufacturing, including Infinity Space, AAC Clyde, Alba Orbital and EnduroSat. Profactor were also picked out as a potential customer for robotic solutions related to their additive manufacturing processes, while DZP Technologies were identified for their advances in soft gripper technology.
Speaking on the support they received, Deacon Innovations noted that the collaborative work provided “valuable insights into the current space marketplace and a vision for the future.”
