Based in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, Photek Ltd are specialist manufacturers of vacuum-based tubes and camera systems for charged particle detection and imaging (photon, electron, and neutron).
TWI assisted them as part of the ESA Technology Broker UK ‘Prepare for Space’ programme, delivering structured workshops to help them prioritise different use cases and align their offerings with the strategic direction of the space sector. This was coupled with external validation and technical feedback to provide increased confidence in the direction Photek are taking with regards to the space sector.
The support offered under the Prepare for Space initiative allowed Photek to assess the opportunities available to them and narrow them down to those that offered the best fit in terms of technical feasibility, commercial potential, and strategic alignment.
Speaking on their participation in the Prepare for Space programme, Photek said, “The ESA Prepare for Space programme, run by TWI, helped us crystallise ideas for applying our production range in space-based applications and will inform our strategy moving forward.”
